Recent earthquakes in the South Island will be causing jitters amongst Insurers in New Zealand. The recent jolts have shown that it's not just the Wellington region that is prone to such an event.
Premium rates for earthquake cover in Wellington are at an all time high, and cover is in fact now very difficult to obtain, especially for any new risks. This is because Insurers are running out of capacity to be able to provide this protection.
No doubt we will see premium rates throughout the South Island increasing over the next 12 months.
